Yeah so Bush was a holy roller and I don't deny that we've got plenty of those, but it still doesn't make the USA a theocracy.

Do we have anything like the religious crap in the Middle East happenning in the USA?
The worst we've got right now is the Catholics complaining that their right to oppose abortion or contraception is being abused by Obama's health care imposing upon Catholic hospitals to provide free contraceptives to female patients

and Obama has already changed his ruling on that because he realises the Catholics are right that their rights were being violated.

If the leader claims God is leading him and telling him what to do then you are a theocracy im my mind.
Theocracy is a form of government in which the official policy is to be governed by immediate divine guidance or by officials who are regarded as divinely guided, or simply pursuant to the doctrine of a particular religious sect or religion.[1][2][3]

Lod, this argument can go on all day because you're entitled to your opinion, but you're wrong because the USA is not a theocracy. We have freedom of speech so if Bush wanted to say he was divinely inspired by God, it was his right;
but those of us with any brains may have viewed his words as necessary to arouse Christians to fight a 21st century crusade against religious fanatics.

PS:
The Vatican doesn't run the government of Italy either although I'll grant you that its opinion may be more respected there.

The vatican has nothing to do with Italy besides that it's placed in the middle of it. The vatican is a state of it's own.

The United States is NOT a theocracy . There's a large ( too many) segment of the population which would like to have it that way, just as there is a large segment that would like to bring back the Confederacy . Those two groups often overlap . The U.S.A.'s god is money. That's the bottom line. Most non- Americans seem to agree with that readily enough. What's the Tea Party's overriding concern ? Taxes and Deficit Spending are the stated concerns ( a Black president and rising non-white population the unspoken). In other words, it means "I've got mine and the hell with anyone else , especially anyone who isn't like me." The circus that's the Republican primary is pandering to all the reactionary constituencies in this country to get their place at the money trough which is Washington D.C. Not pretty, but true enough.

Catholic clergy are still not happy with the Obama compromise on contraceptives because there are Catholic Church financially supported insurance companies which would be required to provide free contraceptives to patients.

As a Catholic, I see the point (above mentioned) of the Catholic clergy and technically as a Catholic I can even see how the Catholic Church doesn't like the contraceptive ruling in general because it conflicts with Catholic beliefs.
Anyway, on the issue of Catholic financially supported insurance companies objecting to Obama's compromise, can they just refuse to comply on the basis of conscientious objection and somehow possibly win in court?

That would still leave the issue open for non-Catholic institutions.

I've just started the proving grounds .if anyone wants that highly important headstart join it now.

also - I hear the new leader of Korea is "leading his country on the path of peace" sounds promising.

I think that Britain occupying middle east countries might achieve harmony and democracy ,but it's also for our own gain as well , oil and other resources and possiblity to exploit.

Yesterday in Britain our government have said they're trying to stop the discrimination of old people ,by Doctors and services .They wont be able to call them 'old dear' or probably 'old' anything for that matter so I guess the 'old Dragon ' is out the question .

Yes, I've had that happen a lot as well. I join, make a move and then it is gone.

As far as I am aware there is no way to see the ongoing Proving Grounds games. There are two going at all times, one for those with campaign rank under 50 and the other above 50.

They seem to run less than the full 255 turns in my experience.

Since there is no way to know when a new PG is starting I guess one has to just keep joining until one "takes". It's dumb.

Yes, I had the same thought, but for the record I did try again with the same negative result.

PS:
In my humble opinion not being able to play the PG game is a big part of the reason why we only have 35 active at this time.

Well it could be due to the low number of people playing thats causing the problem (catch 22 situation)
Next time there's a few people online i'll try starting up PG ,keep it running and announce it in the shout box ,with the theory that there has to be more than one person playing for it to stay running.
maybe you guys could try it too ,obviously time zone issues.

Well within 1/2 an hour of last post ,taurus and trotsky and myself have joined the same game ,so if this doesn't work now then there must be a problem .But some thing tells me it should work fine now .

It occured to me that I may have found WOL while checking out BOARDGAME GEEK .COM . It's possible. Board wargamers are heavily into hex & counter games which is what WOL is basically. If WOL has been advertised there , maybe it should be again ? If not, and it's feasible , why not ?

We would probably have to buy a banner type ad there since they are specifically a boardgame site and wouldn't have any reason to review an online game.

It might well be a useful spot to try to attract new players here. I wonder how much an ad there would run?

I've just started a new game on miniclips called Goodgame Empire , it's like Evony 'apparently' kinda bit fun but lose patience with it easily. good opportunity to plug this site with the players there though. so may get a few new starters from it hopefully.
