Well Req,

Here are some 'sqare' 120x120 underlays; They are kind of basic, but I just wanted to show them so I know if I'm on the 'right-track' or not.

I know you need BMP's, but these are Jpegs just to look at.

Consider this a preview, if you like any of them, let me know and I will e-mail them (or find a way to post BMP's: "Photo-bucket" just started to automaticaly change things to Jpeg for some reason,I used to be able to post bit-maps)

Again, just let me know if they are even close to usable; thanx

i didnt know where else to post this question but...
is there a site tells how to make maps?
and wht to use to do so?

the third choice looks interesting..
since it tends ot deviate from mirror image ones..

understanding mirror image maps give best opportunities to both players if used in duel / battle format.

thank you

peace

web.mac.com/johnoco/iWeb/MapEditor/Page%201.html

That tells most of the ideas involved, ask questions if you have problems.

Heat, I see a couple of immediate problems with your terrains. The first, and worst, is that they are anti-aliased. That may have happened when you jpeg'd them. You have to use a pencil tool to draw them. The pixels can't blend from one color to another since the maps use the terrain color to figure out movement speeds. Make sure you use the exact colors from existing maps. Use an eyedropper tool to pick them up from a screenshot. As I said, use a pencil tool so you get absolute hard edges on all colors with no blending. Don't use an airbrush tool. Don't use lines that might anti-alias automatically.

The second problem is, what kind of maps are they? Since they are 120 X 120 size they would most likely be used for 8, 10 or 12 player games. They don't make a lot of sense as campaign maps. They are neat looking, but that isn't a primary need for terrains.

Another thing to remember is that what kind of terrain the castle is on lends a movement bonus to troops from that castle wherever they are on the map. So if you start in forest, all forest hexes will give faster movement to them. A lot of the maps in use have fairly large areas of each of the five main terrain types.

I'm happy to see you trying to make terrains, although it is rather slow to get Requiem to post them on the editor because they are time consuming to install. Keep making them.

Ah ya Mog; "Photo-bucket" just started to automaticaly change things to Jpeg for some reason,I used to be able to post bit-maps.....

Yes, the originals are in Bitmapped format, Photo-Bucket Jpeg'd them, and that is when they were blended to. Trust me, I was paying atention to each little "bit" LOL (although the paint-brush is quite a time-saver compared to the pencil); I just went with 120's for practice to start with. I also would like to make some more 8 - 12 Maps, for Clans or other Team applications

I'll try some smaller ones, but they would be difficult to make out if they get changed to jpeg again...

I'm trying to find a way to post my Bitmaps again, but I guess since Photo-Bucket is free, they want to save bandwidth or sumthin'

Anyone know a "Photo-Dump" that still allows .Bmp's? Send over the URL.

OK MOG, I'll send them directly to you then; thanx. Just touching up another one before I send the package.

Wysph> check out MOGs post in this thread on Posted : Friday, December 28, 2007 - 06:17.

MOG is in charge of putting new maps in the database; but has decided we should "Beta-Test" the new maps individually befor we play any "ranked" games on them.

A "Beta-tester" is just a player that plays a game or new levels for games 'pre-release'. They try to find anything fataly wrong with the map and let the designers know befor the game is shipped.

ty...

I would help test but already in 2 duels and a campaign dont think i can do any more at moment..

Should I complete any of the duels or get eliminated from the campaign I would galdly help...

Knowledge about map layout before use in duel / battle tends to lend a upper hand..(know the terrian)...

the beta test should only take two or three days, we need to look at each area to see if any probs, its three turns a day though that can be a pain for some

As a non member I think im only allowed in 3 games at one time…
I may be wrg..
If I am allowed in the test at same time then I will do it..
Time is not a problem for me
