9th question?
...and sorry, I don't use that definition of alive. If it was a whole plant or animal or human I would say yes, but otherwise, just too many things contain organic material for that to be a useful description. Beating a dead horse there, and yes, a dead horse would be considered to have been alive. Not the glue from its hooves however. |

| Posted : Monday, 11 January 2010 - 19:04 Im not trying to shoot you down in flames Harold, but a penny whistle has 6 holes and Mog says its not a transverse hole type instrument. | | Mog DoCJoined 5/02/2004 Posts : 14358
| Posted : Monday, 11 January 2010 - 21:19 A transverse hole means one you blow across to produce sound/vibrations, as with a standard flute.
A recorder is a "fipple" flute, where the mouthpiece is blown directly into and fingering changes the length of the air column. A penny whistle (actually a slide whistle) is more like a recorder than a flute, although it uses a piston or slide to change the length of the vibrating air column, like a trombone.
This item is none of those, and is not an Aeolian Harp.
Interestingly enough, it is not included on the link the Princess supplies, although that is a lovely page!
It may be made of metal, but as I said earlier, it is not the traditional material used to produce these.
