| Posted : Wednesday, 26 September 2007 - 04:46 So, I was wondering how many folks here would be willing to play an online game of Diplomacy here through WOL.
For those not familiar with Diplo, heres a link to the rules: www.diplomacy-archive.com/resources/rulebooks/2000AH4th.pdf
the rulebook is a little lengthy, but the rules really aren''t all that complicated.
Obviously, this is a game all about diplomacy. The majority of the game won''t actually take place on the board, but in your talks and negotiations with the other players in the game. As a warning, there will be backstabbing and lying. Thats just how the game works.
How it would work here through WOL, is that people would use PMs or whatever else to talk with all the other players in the game for their negotiations. Players would then send in their moves to me via PM, and I would make the moves, update the map, and then post a pic of the updated map. then the next turn would take place.
The game needs 7 players, and I''ll act as gamemaster. So, who wants to give this game a shot? Only people who are ready to play this game till the end, please. The game will probably take a month to play through. |

| Posted : Thursday, 27 September 2007 - 22:10 All righty, I drew from a hat to determine the powers, so the process was completely random. Here''s how it turned out.
Biodus - Italy Padro - Germany Neb - Austria Oblivion - Russia Fufu - Britain Sage - France Gai - Turkey
So there it is. Get to talking with your neighbors, and everyone else. Start plotting for world domination, you''re going to have to use some underhanded tactics on your way to the top, believe you me.
Here''s a link to the program I will use to resolve all the orders:
jdip.sourceforge.net/index.html
Download it and fiddle around with it. I''ll be posting the game file here, and you will be able to open it in that program.
Also, if you want to read some material on strategy for your power, here''s a good link for that:
www.diplomacy-archive.com/resources/strategy.htm
In the Opening Strategy section on that page, if you scroll down you will see a series of ''Introduction'' articles for each of the powers, I recommend you at least take a look at those for your power.
So start making negotiations now and figuring out what you would like to do for your opening moves. Once you have your opening orders ready, you will simply PM them to me. Once I have everyone''s orders, I will resolve the turn and post the results, then the next turn will take place.
For now, I won''t set a deadline, but if the negotiations are taking too long, I will make one.
Send any questions my way, and I''ll be happy to answer them.
Let the game begin
