C'mon, man...I've never see anybody talk about theirself as much as you...lol....but to each their own...some people like to 'toot their own horn'...but personally, I'll let the scoreboards, rankings and those that have either played with me or against me, do my speaking....8)

Your 'barracks thing' is a smart move(good suggestion), I'll have to try that in an upcoming game.

i talk about myself, generally in jest... i blow my own horn in jest... i actually dispise people that love themselves too much... or is that despise ... who knows... who cares... sometimes i play up to the arrogant persona that i have earned from certain people... all in the spirit of jest...

treating forums seriously is a great way to ruin a great game, in my experience... anyone here play a game called solar empire? raise my name there... thats the only reason i dont play that game anymore... shame, thats another game i was the master at... ... someone ended up getting contacted by the police due to taking the forums too seriously in that game - and the events which ensued... it aint worth it mate...

and yeah, my barracks thing, it is a good idea isnt it? winning idea from a winning mind... natch...

Yes, I didn't quite understand what you were saying at first with the one troop per barracks thing...but I understand...hold that freebie until later when you can tech up to better troops. 8)

nah, its not just what was said in the forums, but what stemmed from that... a bit of hacking to be precise, and it was the hacker that was my mate - and indeed, certainly in the right... lol...

anyway, seems that there is a general consensus that its best to start with scouts and comms, do any of the experienced players (or anyone with a level over 16) use any other combos?

nope the best way to start is 3 commandeers and 1 scouts its logical and good each one goes to 1 resource while the scout searches for the gold mine and gem pod then u keep producing comandeer and scouts until u ready for higher units

IMO, it depends on wat the player has in mind in the first place. Like how he want his game to be develope etc..

Hence the starting troops of all players would differ.

Its just like some players prefer to 'suffer' in the first place, saving up every resources and then pump in straight away and produce elite troops. (That is where dudley starting troops would be ideal)

But there is also players who prefer to increase gradually. Start with low lvl troops, then move on to the next lvl when his has the necessary resources and so on and so forth....

Also, there is players who prefer to have more commandeers to build the foundation first (like taking over mine etc) Vice versa players who start with 3 scouts, to go for resource piles to increase their resource instead of mine and woodmill.

And thats exactly is wat so great abt this game. Coz there will be hardly be the same situation repeating in the games u play.

I've tried both scout-scout-comms-comms(1) and scout-comms-scout-comms(2) and big surprise:

In case (1) in one barracks was 18 comms and 18? scouts in the other.

In case (2) in both barracks was 18 comms AND 18? scouts... so 36 comms to buy in first turn !!!!!!

Anyone can confirm that?

About oher units... spearmens are useless in game because are too slow and weak in defense. Nobody will attack the castle in the first turns. Pikemen are easy to build and they are much much better than spearmen, enough to destroy hundreds of souts.

Swordsmen are also useless in defense since they are vulnerable to scouts and nobody will use slow spearmens to attack.

Different opinions?

I'm afraid not. I see no good reason to ever use spearmen. I would even go so far as to attack a spear stack with scouts if I had better numbers.

i disagree i usaly go 2 scout and 2 speer and heas strait for the closet castle short one comms and one scout to take piles and buildings near my own castle
the speer help alot in the takeover of the closest castle and the comms can take there resorse buildings easly weaking them if the battle goes longer that you expect the suprise of a quick invasion will genurly let u catch your foe well he is out scouting and taking resorses the only drawback is a slow gain of resorce buildings but that can be ovecome very quickly by the accusition of a second casle and the free barracks that come with it

I guess there are two start strats:

One is to start with a diverse selection, so you can train everything (I prefer to be able to produce comms with more barracks, or at least start with some extra), and the other strat is to go with just comms in one, and any of the melee in the other.

That way, you can upgrade your barracks to different troops without waiting a turn. Might be better than having them already at your disposal if you think about it.
