TR, keep in mind the US is not a democracy...we are a Republic....and I whole heartedly agree with you concerning voting privileges versus voting rights.

That's exactly a substantial portion of today's problems...take the last presidential election for example...because of so much hype in the media, people were voting for the 'cool' candidate, not necessarily the 'good' candidate.

Now, to be sure, I respect McCain for his service in the military, but I certainly didn't agree with his personal positions on many issues, he wasn't and still isn't a conservative....but the alternative (Obama) was even less desirable. With the demoncrats having control during almost the last two years of Bush and then almost another three years under Obama, we can plainly see what their methods of governing and wish for transformation has given us.

So many people don't even acknowledge that the 'house of cards' (our economy) started crashing the moment it was evident that Obama and the democrats were going to have total control of the senate/house and presidency. But of course, the majority of the uneducated still wish to follow the hype of all the troubles being Bush's fault.

But back to the issue of voting 'rights'...there's where changes should be implemented. A certain level of awareness and knowledge is needed to elect better, honest, ethical and more productive politicians. Certainly we know the racial vote was 'in the bag' for Obama and the democrats as it has been for 50 years or more...but there's plenty of other persons that didn't fall in that racial category that was just as equally uninformed and lacked any knowledge to insure a logical vote.

Question:

""wiki.answers.com/Q/Is_the_United_states_a_democratic_republic"

"Is the USA a Democratic Republic?

Answer:
The USA is a democratic republic, but it is also a constitutional republic."

"From Wikipedia:

"the United States relies on representative democracy, but [its] system of government is much more complex than that. [It is] not a simple representative democracy, but a constitutional republic in which majority rule is tempered by minority rights protected by law."""

Another thing I thought of. Why are we supporting a system that support people to live on a higher standard, than their income would allow them, by letting them deduct interest spendings from their taxes? Shouldn't we award people who saves up to be able to afford what they want to consume instead? It would also lower the prices on lot's of goods I belive. As it is now we give social benefits to billionaires with big loans.

This is why we need a new system and why people are protesting. The debts are not possible to pay. That leaves the market open for scavengers..

So if the debtor nations don't pay, do the creditor nations make war in order to get paid or are all debts just forgiven?

I don't see Norway declare war on Greece or Italy The only creditor that would even have that option would be China but I doubt it would pay off..
