| Posted : Wednesday, 21 March 2007 - 08:39 the word "kids" can be interpreted so widely depending on who is saying it. most uses, I''ve heard the max kid age stop at around 14... but some use it to describe anybody still in high school. parents include their 40 year old children as "kids".
so... yes, it can be.
but it is not a young child''s toy.

| Posted : Thursday, 22 March 2007 - 10:22 I''m slightly concerned that anything remotly close to a hand held videa game is battery operated (regardless of if you can plug it in to the mains). |

| Posted : Friday, 23 March 2007 - 09:50 Smaller than 9x9x9 inches, cheaper than $200 and available in stores, but not common. Electronic with a display, close to a hand-held video game, can run indirectly off a number of power sources, but isn''t any kind of media player and has nothing to do with computers.
Well I can`t wait to find out what it is...
.. so I`ll go with a final guess of one of those hand-held TVs. |

The answer was:
The Legend of Zelda
The golden video game cartridge that came out for the Nintendo back in the 80''s.
I tried throughout to lead you guys back when a question was very hard to answer, such as the electronic vs electrical question.
And I would have tried to set you straight on the visual display bit with hints... I answered yes because you play it on the T.V., in a Nintendo, so it does have a visual display - but only in use. I could have also answered no on that, because alone it has no display... but I thought that would lead you even more astray... ah well. there weren''t enough questions after the display one for me to have caught on that some of you at least were convinced this thing had a screen on it. sorry. I figured somebody would catch on that it was a peripheral that utilized a screen - like I said, it does have a display when in use, thats all its really good for.
but still, fun game. |

| Posted : Friday, 23 March 2007 - 19:58 Either you are talking about the game The Legend of Zelda in which case it could be described as having a display but you can''t say it has nothing to do with a computer. Or it is the actual cartidge in which case it possible has nothing to do with a computer (if you claim that the Nintendo was not a computer which I would disagree with as games consoles are computers) but in that case it definitly doesn''t have a display. |

| Posted : Friday, 23 March 2007 - 20:41 I stand by my reasonings and my definitions.
Nintendo is certainly not a computer by the general definition, its a console. if I had said it was, you would have complained. (you, the forum, maybe not you midnight). you wouldn''t have stopped guessing about computer type stuff, and when it became known it was a console game, somebody would have said "thats not a computer!"
so either way I''m right. |

| Posted : Friday, 23 March 2007 - 20:46 But that is only an argument if discussing the game cartridge which doesn''t have a display. The game itself can run on a PC. Also the cartirdge was battery operated as it had persitant battery powered memory. |

| Posted : Friday, 23 March 2007 - 22:10 first, battery operated means that it runs on batteries, which means the device doesn''t need to be plugged in. try running the game on its battery memory some time, tell me if it works.
second, I said it was the legend of Zelda golden game cartridge by Nintendo - the game can''t run on the pc unless you turned it into a rom - and a rom is a piece of software, which doesn''t have a display any more than the game cartridge does! you shouldn''t go and use my logic and then tell me I can''t.
I already explained why I said it had a display, the question was such that the answer yes was just about as right as the answer no, if you disagree, fine. I did my best and tried to make it fun. I probably helped you more than I should have. I''ll close this thread tomorrow some time just because I don''t like to have the last word on a thing just because I can, but I''m going to start a new 20 questions soon, it should be a little simpler, I kinda want to get away from the disagreement of definitions for a bit. |
