A calculator is electronic, i.e. some sort of input is given to it, it does something to the input, and then returns an output... I think that''s about right

| Posted : Tuesday, 6 March 2007 - 13:15 There are varrying ideas on just how broad the term "electronic" is allowed to be.
I looked up the term in various dictionaries, here is one of them:
209.161.33.50/dictionary/electronic
In definition #1, a lamp and a computer are both electronic. in definition #2, only the computer is.
I knew about both usages before looking them up, I just wanted to post this so you all knew I wasn't being crazy... techniqually, electronics is the study of electrons and aplication of this to technology. And an electronic device by this correct definition could be a potato battery.
But I digress. I will answer Mog's question:
Yes, it is electronic. By your definition.

| Posted : Wednesday, 14 March 2007 - 07:23 Answer this question ONLY IF the answer to Question #11 is no.
Does it get power from solar energy, water energy, wind energy, or geothermal energy?
Note: This isn''t a 3-in-1 question. If you answer yes, we know it is one of them, but not which one. If its no, well then they are all eliminated. | | ^ector Joined 11/11/2003 Posts : 987

| Posted : Wednesday, 14 March 2007 - 14:44 I don''t want you all going off the deep end here, trying to figure out what powers this thing: think of how you phrased your sentences... you said "does it plug into a wall?" and "is it battery operated?" and "does it get its power from solar.. etc.. energy?"
You might be stumped as to what powers it, but thats really not important. it could get its energy indirectly from several of those sources.
no more hints... I and I hope you don''t get more confused from this one.
