AuthorTopic : New Ranking System!

The new Ranking System is now in place.

Players get a rank for EXP and rank for Tribute.
Combining your two positions gives your total Rank and that is what games are ranked on.

eg. If you are 2nd in EXP and 3rd in Tribute, your rank is 5. This would rank you higher than someone who is 5th in EXP and 1st in Tribute.

Both EXP and Tribute are accumulative, so every turn counts.

Players can also end up on the same rank, which is fairer.

Quiting or going inactive or being eliminated does not effect your rank. Its now always based on your total game performance.

Not really, since if you get high enough score, and know that you going to lose the next fight for sure, you'll just quit and win the game nevertheless. I thought this have already been questioned last time?

Other than that, the EXP + tribute is a good system... Just like the old times...

I don't really understand the system, but it seems to me quitting couldn't be beneficial if you can't lose experience or tribute. If you're going to lose a battle just retreat and accumulate tribute right?

well, if you get that high a Tribute or EXP score, then good on you. You must have played well.

Quiting to win would only work if you are in 1st place and there is only 1 other player in the game. So best thing to do there is dont eliminate player 3 until player 1 is dropped to number 2

Did you actually loose points in the old system for fighting to the death? I honestly didn't think you did, you gained more exp as you were going down.. I thaught(?)

nope, it's based on the difference of experience gained vs experience lost. So if you die going down, your experience goes down with you. So, there used to be this "technique" to win the game when you are 1 vs 1 and you are leading in exp, you quit and you win....so we tend to just vote to end towards the end instead of fighting for fear of lost of exp...

it WAS based on exp gained minus 1/2 exp lost.

Now the EXP rank is based totally on EXP gained.
So go out there and destroy!

But you still need a good economy to rank in the top

Can you not add a rule - if only 2 players left and you quit, lose one position?

I still would like to see the deaths, just for information.

it is handy to evaluate how many troops your opponent has lost to make a basic calc as to what he has left without paying for that info if you just use your head a bit

I know what I kill, dono about the others...so is not that handy at all. And I'm using my brain all the time, and my head too when playing soccer

So in duels if you have more tribute and less experience it seems that you are ranked higher. Is this change only to camps? I would think that in duels if anything there should be some kind of ratio implemented as to make it where so much tribute is worth so much exp.

Battles and Duels are Elimination based.
Unless time runs out, the eliminated player loses regardless of what the Tribute/EXP was.

I also think its a good thing to not see how many troops an enemy has lost. This way you dont get free intel. If you want to know, you have to pay for it!

yes, i did not say I want that info for free.
I completly agree with you, I've used "Spy" only once and that was for curiosity. If you can give a better meaning to this option, that will be great.

The ability to build spies, 1 person units that are difficult for normal units to spot. They can't take over anything, but should be able to "sabotage" resource production by damaging resources like gold mines or diamond mines.

Possibly also open gates (drawbridges) for a fee.
Other spies can see them normally, commandeers from 4 hexes away, other units only if within 2 hexes.

You should be unable to tell which player they belong to unless you capture one.

Hmm, maybe OT and should be in "Suggestion Box"

Im not a fan of spies or other types of hidden troops.
It just creates a very tedious mechanic where all players must create other spies and constantly scan for enemies.
Otherwise you end up with buildings suddenly being sabotaged without warning. THat would be frustrating.
