You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's noses.

"Don't hide anything".

PS:
An explanation follows although I would really like to leave it at those three words above:
when I was about twenty-five and I had ventured into self-employment as a builder, my uncle who is also my Godfather gave me those three words of advice which turned out to be probably some of the most practical advice a person could be given.

Every time I need something, can't find it and spend several minutes looking for it, I think of those words because we have these habits of shoving stuff we might need to the back of closets, at the bottom of drawers, under our beds or possibly even up in the attic, not to mention down in a corner of the basement;

and I have determined that we can actually spend about ten percent of our lives looking for stuff.
Luckily I had another uncle who said:
"don't look for anything".
The result of that latter advice was that I just discarded three large cans of dried-out glazing compound that weren't even half used;
So my *"words of wisdom"* follow:
only buy enough stuff for the task at hand.

Thanks Dino ...
not so wise to give away trade secrets though.
My father would have known and he always had some linseed oil handy too.

PS:
Choirsinger,
then I refer you to "don't hide things" and Dino's remedy for dried-out glazing compound ...
maybe even an inventory log (including how much and whereat).

In any event always do "first things first" and always notch a tree in the direction you want it to fall.

Fads come and go and when they replace the time-tested real McCoy, there may be nothing left to hold it all together.
