| Posted : Tuesday, 13 November 2007 - 23:01 Is it always +20 attack in a castle?
I know how the comm bonus works but maximum comm bonus is 50% right?
The weapons and armor techs are easy, I think..
How does the ranged penalty work exactly, and I read this doesn't apply to Marks?
How does the Ballista stack bonus work?

| Posted : Wednesday, 14 November 2007 - 03:10 Ballista bonus is: Range Defense : 50% ranged protection. Size Bonus : +5% damage per enemy troop above 1.
Castles always add 20 attack as far as I know.
Comm bonus is up to 50% extra attack for any given troop.
Ranged penalty means that for all ranged except Marksmen and Crossbow Masters, the farther from a target, the less the strength of the attack. I've seen the formula here somewhere before but I forget it now... anyway, farther away is weaker. |

| Posted : Wednesday, 14 November 2007 - 13:14 "Special Abilities : Command Bonus : +2 Attack to neaby* armies per troop. Each troop gains best Command Bonus only." Mog's quote from the Online Manual.
Thank for the info MOG, but it was the WORDING here that confused me, not the lack of reading it. The manual refers to population (pop) when talking about the individual units making a stack. "Troop" is actually a term EVERY militarty in the world uses to describe what we would call here a stack of scouts. (a group of cavalry)
Hence the cunfusion over weather the +2 is improved with numbers in pop or numbers in stacks; as the term troop would imply a +2 per stack.
Good thing I asked. Thanx to you I get it now.

| Posted : Wednesday, 14 November 2007 - 23:49 Castles adding plus 20 attack? Since when? The only thing they add without upgrade is +5 def, and after upgrade even more defense, but not attack in my observation. And, at the risk of missing something here , I've actually never seen the bonus cap in effect: no matter the att value of my troops the comms always give them the same bonus (at least, that's how it's displayed). Am I missing something here on either count? |

There is a bonus for towers and barracks, but not for castle ground itself (other than defense).
What I'm really curious about though is the comm bonus cap; a number of people have mentioned it exhisting, but I've never observed it: the attack boost is always 20 with a ten stack of comms, even on un-upgraded scouts. |

| Posted : Thursday, 15 November 2007 - 21:48 The cap on the comms bonus is capped in the sense that you only get the bonus from one stack. Meaning if you have 3 10 pops next to one of your stacks, it only gets +20, not +60 for attack. In the past, you could have comm stacks of 300+, with no cap on how high the attack modifier could go. |

| Posted : Saturday, 17 November 2007 - 00:16 lol, this seems to be turning into a q&a thread more than strat :-P
tower is plus two ranged as well as big att and def bonuses (i don't know exactly, but it's at least 10 in both areas)
barracks is plus one ranged, 10 attack, and 5 def (seems more logical to be 10 def and 5 att, but that's what we've got :-P). |

| Posted : Sunday, 18 November 2007 - 17:57 Actually Towers don't give any attack bonus, only defence and extra range and outposts give only +1 range and some defence bonus. |

| Posted : Sunday, 18 November 2007 - 23:18 Ugh...misinformation...
Towers give +20 to attack and +20 to defense and a +2 to range.
I just checked it in a current campaign, and in multiple towers.
Thanks - Neb |

| Posted : Monday, 19 November 2007 - 01:30 Well mine aren't giving me any attack bonus in my duels and I'm only getting +10 defence + 2 range.
Outposts are giving me +10 defence and +1 range.
