I'll give it a go again. |

But restart, yeah. |

| Posted : Sunday, 18 November 2007 - 02:37 They do, Oblivion, but only when it's in their interests to do so!
Never trust someone to do something that's bad for them!
That's why everyone laughs at you. |

"it's the honest ones you have to watch out for. You never know when they'll do something incredibly... stupid." |

| Posted : Sunday, 18 November 2007 - 14:05 That does sort of sum you up, Obli.
If only he had found a way to work the word "drool" into that sentence.
The secret to playing diplomacy IS honesty, actually. You can't win this game without honesty and trust between you and other players. However, it is not about ABSOLUTE honesty. You must be honest to the extent that it helps you win the game. If you lie indiscriminately, you'll lose. If you're indiscriminately honest and a doormat, you'll lose, too.
Figure out the middle ground. |

| Posted : Sunday, 18 November 2007 - 17:56 Well we can restart if you all like. lol.
But waiting weeks or more isn't very good. Are Fufu and Crimson going to be active?
I've hardly even seen Fufu online.
Restart then!! I'll generate new countries shall I? It might be a bit unfair starting in the same countries as before.

| Posted : Sunday, 18 November 2007 - 18:10 i'm on every day just was hold my order since i wanted to check with fufu before i moved :p anyways i'd say two days is a reasonable amount of time for a turn everyone has stuff to do and sometimes we just cann't make it on a dailey basis. everyone involved has been active at least a month anyways so i don't think activity will be to much of a problem |

| Posted : Sunday, 18 November 2007 - 18:18 Yes Two days is very reasonable. I'd be willing to wait 3 even.

| Posted : Sunday, 18 November 2007 - 22:33 Yeah thats what we had before. They had 3 days a warning message to get the orders in and failed to do so.
But we can start again. I'll regenerate the countries in a couple of hours when If get the time. |

| Posted : Sunday, 18 November 2007 - 22:38 Ok.....i would like to be in this, but for the sake of the game i might have to say im out. Things have been kinda Crazy lately(with my band, and my dad being a hateful person) and i doubt i'll always make it in on time. So, as much as i would like to play i will have to say, search for another.......But if you are truley desperate let me know! |

| Posted : Sunday, 18 November 2007 - 23:22 Didn't we just have a case where it took a week to get all orders? Why would anyone think this will be any different this time around? If we are intent upon having a game that every players gets a move every turn, then there can be no time limit.
Deal me in. |

| Posted : Monday, 19 November 2007 - 01:10 ya i'll have to second neb, a time limit will only serve to throw off the game. best to play right or not at all |

| Posted : Monday, 19 November 2007 - 01:28 lol. ok fair enough. But there isn't much point in playing if you take a week or longer. In my experience a week is a long time for an online diplomacy style game. Alliances can radically change in a few days of constant talking. And if it drags on too long you can bet your bottom that people will loose interest and wander off and not bother playing anymore.
How do you guys play WoL if you cant even garuntee being online every 2 or 3 days? |

| Posted : Monday, 19 November 2007 - 02:08 Gaiy, the problem isn't being online once a week. It's the fact that negotiations require large numbers of logins.
Lets look at two people who log in twice a day:
Day 1, Login 1, Player 1:
Let's demilitarize the English channel, ok?
Day 1, Login 1, Player 2:
No, I don't like that idea.
Day 1, Login 2, Player 1:
Look, it's in the best interests for both of us. This way we won't have to worry about the other one stabbing us. The fact that you don't want to suggests that maybe you're going to stab me!
Day 1, Login 2, Player 2:
I'm not planning on stabbing you, I just want to be able to move through the channel. I'm going after Germany, so I'm going to be moving PAST you, but not actually attacking you.
Day 2: Login 1, Player 1:
Um...why are you attacking Germany? I'm allied with Germany. I don't approve of this plan.
Day 2, Login 1, Player 2:
I have an alliance with Italy. By the way, I also have the ear of Russia. Do what I want, or I'll make sure you don't get the scandanavian province.
Day 2: Login 2, Player 1:
With Germany's help, Russia can't bother me. Is there any way I can convince you to keep the channel demilitarized?
Day 2, Login 2, Player 2:
Well, you have two choices: I either attack Germany, or attack you.
Day 3, Login 1, Player 1:
How about if I let you take Belgium, uncontested? Will you leave me and Germany alone?
Day 3, Login 1, Player 2:
Ok
That conversation took three days...and people were actually being reasonable. If somebody is being stubborn, things take longer. If somebody only logs in ONCE a day, that conversation would take SIX days!
A week is fine under EXTREME circumstances. Three to four days should be enough, though. Just because you don't think its worth playing, Gai, doesn't mean the rest of us feel that way. Postal diplomacy takes forever, but people still play IT. |
