| Posted : Friday, 30 November 2007 - 01:22 Yeah All HC isnt so hard to defeat. All you need to do is bog them down (Rams are good) and mark them to death. Your own HC and Mace work well for hitting them with hth. Although mace go squish a lot.
One way is to attack with a spear or something else useless, THEN hit the HC with a bunch of mace. Or what I do is take some rams, let the HC attack a few stacks of rams on Defence mode (if I can), bring in a ram and attack a stack of HC, then hit the HC with marks (with comm bonus) and then Mace (preferably with comm bonus is able).
I took down a whole HC force with a handful of marks, arbs, rams and mace. I've done it 3 times now. Against newbs (n00bier than me at any rate) admittedly. A balanced force will hurt you unless controlled by someone completely new.
Lots of mace is a harder force to defeat IMO.

| Posted : Friday, 30 November 2007 - 13:42 Thanx Gai, i feel a little better now.
I do get a few more Mace on the field than HC, so I guess I'm on the right track;
They do go squish alot though LOL |

| Posted : Tuesday, 4 December 2007 - 17:03 i accualy prefer snarieos cuz when your picking your troops, it can either go verrrry good or verrrrry bad, its never really even at least when i play, and if you wana really see who is better, play with the same troops . thats the only way it is really even |

| Posted : Tuesday, 4 December 2007 - 20:50 Nah... on balanced maps like Paen Pass, I think a 6k medi v medi custom is the ultimate test of who is the better battler. You have to choose a team that is suited for the map and know how to use it properly. You have to choose the units you have deemed to be the best and most useful and use them in combination to devastate your opponent. Luck is only a factor if you pick a team that has heavy weaknesses and strengths.

| Posted : Sunday, 6 January 2008 - 23:10 In terms of strategy I agree with bio, customs are a better test, but in terms of pure tactical ability scenarios are where it's at. Personally I find the scenarios less nerve racking, because I know what I'm up against, but I think it's always more gratifying to win with 'your own' troops, particularly in a battle where they should be outmatched.
WOooohooo, the forums have spell check now! So I don't have to choose between typing it out in word and looking like a fool! |

| Posted : Sunday, 6 January 2008 - 23:21 Yeah I gotta agree with bio, force disposition is a major part of the strategy of the game.
Although it is nice to play the scenarios sometimes. |

| Posted : Wednesday, 9 January 2008 - 16:06 senerios are the best test of whos the best battler as the only diffrence is your troops whith your skill being the deciding factor
customes have a certin amount of luck in them but are a good test of who can pick a better force |

| Posted : Wednesday, 9 January 2008 - 21:22 I have to disagree that scenerios are the best determinant in battle skill. Even thought the forces are even, the best test of your skill is in a custom game where the enemy strat is better than yours and yet you still can pull out the win. |

| Posted : Wednesday, 9 January 2008 - 21:49 I have to agree with Crest. Objectively, the best test is the scenarios. It takes out one of the variables of which choice of troops was better. (You may think another choice was better than yours, but that is somewhat subjective.)
I think the customs are more enjoyable for the reason Coopels stated, but are not really the best determinate of battle skill. Take 3 random 12-unit games, and the one who wins all 3 has the better battle skills. |
