I have a 'local' cornerstore that sells my 'Players Filter' or what-ever the hell it's called now (Red-Stripe/Original Flavor; what-ever LOL) for $10 even.

Then there's the "other" kind of smokes, "native" or "no-name" LOL for $10-20 a carton.

I don't even think of myself as old (yet) but I can remember when I started smokeing. I could go get 2 packs of Name-brand smokes, a bag of 'Doritos', and a bottle of pop with the "purple" (Ten$); and still get enough change back for a Bic lighter if I needed it. Today, that would cost me close to $30!

(we're talking less than 12 years here)

It's actually even legal, like buying that 40 of Jack as your crossing Customs at the CAN-US border Duty-free shops. Of course there is a limit to how many you can buy per trip (2 cartons a trip LOL) so the "Black-market" is also full of them.. that's the illegal part
