Here's a new tech map to answer some of those nagging questions we ask ourselves about research paths and so on.

Please feel free to correct me, expand the idea or just heap wads of praise on me...whatever.

Nice, but it won't let me buy a tech.

Oh, sure it will! Send me $20 cash and you'll get your Tech in the mail next day!

Send it to:

Well, people have been asking me how to build towers and such, here's the path to follow. The tree style is far harder to create and understand, I think.

The problem with that style is that it takes up huge amounts of room, try it yourself, you'll see. There used to be a techmap here by another player and it was extremely confusing to read. He had to stretch it out vertically to include everything and have lines from one thing to another. It was useful but too complicated for easy use, I thought.

The way I did it was to answer questions about how to get any specific tech or upgrade quickly without following a tree system to find it. The online manual leaves out various significant improvements that are needed to build things, in general. For instance, under Towers it has military academy and Towers as what you need to have to get them when you also have to have Castle Protection and Castle Defense. These things are nowhere on the site as far as I know, unless someone has put it in the forums at some point, and those can be impossible to find when you need them.

I'll think about a better way to present this information but for now, this is what you get!

*shakes his head* *seriously dissapointed with mog*

I once had hope ... that the web-blessed mog with his creative force could deliver us a flashy tech tree ...

... but now I see how wrongly had I set my targets.

*get's his crayons and paper and starts making the tree*

Wow, I didn't think it was that bad! It isn't flashy but it gets the job done. Want to find out what to resaerch to get what you want? This should do it. Does it really need to be a huge messy diagram? Let's see a layout from my detractors, I say.

<Sat with pencil in mouth>

So do the ones that don't start with 'Castle' mean that you could research them even if you lost your castle?

I thought I remembered losing the ability to research anything when I lost my castle.

In one game all I've had for the past 10 turns is a blacksmiths and a goldmine and it will let me buy blacksmith techs so a castle isn't needed for everything.

With Mog's list it was easy to knock up a clear but artistic tech-tree. I'm sure you'll want to print it out straight away and frame it for your living room.

(or more likely, let's have this as a starting point in a mini competition. Come on, who can do better than me? None of those Kindergarten types that's for sure.)

- Note, its actually wrong if you can buy Blacksmith techs without a castle

I like Mog's better. More organized. Easier to follow. Clean that one up, and you might have something.
