Just food for thought...

How about the Kung Fu series, then movie? Both played by David Carradine?

Kung Fu has an American setting, I believe. The character we're looking for does not reside in North America.

FYI: Monty Python, or The Pythons, is the collective name of the creators of Monty Python’s Flying Circus, a British television comedy sketch show that first aired on the BBC on 5 October 1969. It is not a character or a person.

Thanks Biscuit. I had that suspicion.

I wouldn't accept Steve Irwin as the Crocodile Hunter because he isn't a fictional character.

Renno's profession question was a good one, I think. How many TV shows revolve around a character's profession? How many of these shows are popular enough to be made into a movie? The person we're looking for isn't in law enforcement, he isn't a world leader, he isn't an athlete or musician.

Off the top of my head, I can only come up with a few professions exciting enough to fit the bill: doctor, magician, government official, soldier/sailor/pilot (military), explorer, and inventor.

Mog, you've really got us with this one! But the forum shall triumph at the last minute

it can't be mash even tho the setting is in korea...mog said first the tv show then the movie. MASH was first the movie then the series, and none of the actors played the same part in both.

Somebody get a razor, let's torture mog a little for a clue!

That shouldn't happen to a vet.

edit: I'm not sure if James Herriot was played by the same actor in the film as in the TV series but it's a possibility.

Any last try? C'mon...you know who it is....he's famous! He's not American! He was on a tv show! He recently had a movie based on that character in the tv show!!! He's alive and so is the guy who plays him!!! You could actually go and meet him if you tried hard enough, I guess!!!! The actor was in another big movie recently as well in a supporting role!!!!!!!!! Guess, you miscreants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
