What Are Technologies?

Technologies are new skills you can purchase/learn to improve your empire.
Each class has their own set of techs and upgrades, and are an integral part of the game.

Whats The Difference Between Techs & Upgrades?

Techs are more generic technologies that once purchased effect everything and cannot be lost. You can only get 1 tech per turn.

Upgrades are techs that are building specific. The upgrade effects that building only and can be lost if the building is destroyed or taken over. You can purchase as many upgrades as you like in a turn.

Do I Need Techs?

If you want to do well in a game, of course.
Most buildings and all the new troops require one or more technologies to be purchased first.
Of course whether to improve your economy, military or other facets of your empire first is up to you.
