| Posted : Saturday, 28 May 2005 - 02:57 I made a program for you folks. I had built this in C for Macintosh, but nobody here uses them, hardly, so I rewrote it in Flash 5.
It's called BattlePlanner. It allows you to figure out set-ups for any size battle. It is also useful when you want to know how much more stuff is behind enemy lines.
home.earthlink.net/~johnoco/BattlePlanner.swf
I am going to be getting into ActionScript for Flash, I'm reading a massive tome and doing the exercises. This program I wrote is the result of just the first couple of chapters and I hope to get far better at the programming, ( as opposed to art, I'm good at that part already), side of Flash. It's really very similar to programming in C for Mac, or JavaScript.
I think the program will be self-explanatory, but I'd appreciate comments. Have fun, it's been useful for me! Mog Last Edited : Friday, 9 September 2005 - 07:13 | Chiron Joined 19/09/2000 Posts : 1877
| Posted : Sunday, 29 May 2005 - 22:55 Can you make one with not so many colours? Hehe. Maybe a corporate edition?
And adjust it so it looks like the 'Join Game' page on the official site, maybe Req will like it and will be implement it into the game?? | | Mog DoCJoined 5/02/2004 Posts : 14357

| Posted : Monday, 22 August 2005 - 08:50 I made a new version of the BattlePlanner. It has Barbarians and works much faster due to some new tricks I've learned in Flash.

| Posted : Friday, 16 September 2005 - 21:36 The full maps aren't available as far as I know. I do have the three battle maps on my tutorial on battling. Req posted the link to the Duel map in his thread about Duels.
I'd like to have the maps published somewhere, I guess some folks might not. Vets know where most of the resources are after playing the same map 20 times but I personally still don't remember where every little item is, so the map would be very useful. | | cardfan_stl Joined 25/10/2003 Posts : 855
| Posted : Saturday, 17 September 2005 - 02:17 campaign maps ARE available... though where they're at isn't exactly obvious.
Go to Home --> Sitemap. Then click on the link to the Map Editor (it's in the far right column).
Map21 is the regular 10 player map. But the others are there as well. To see the map you'll need to click on "map21" at the top and copy the text there.
Then type in map 21 where it asks and hit "load." This will bring up a blank 10 player map. From here you hit "data" at the bottom right and paste the data you copied previously. Hit "load" and you've got the 10-player campaign map with all the resource buildings and piles.
You can do similarly to look at the other maps though I forget offhand which maps the others are.

If you set up an army, then change to a different set of points without clicking clear, it keeps adding more forces to the old line-up.
I had an 11,500 point army built up. Of course, if Mogco functions like microsoft, this is a built in hidden feature.

| Posted : Sunday, 2 October 2005 - 03:00 It's an extra feature! What if Req makes 11,500 point games in the future? Huh? Then what ya gonna do? | | titonator Joined 12/02/2004 Posts : 3278

| Posted : Tuesday, 11 October 2005 - 18:34 Wow, how long did it take you to do that? | | Mog DoCJoined 5/02/2004 Posts : 14357
| Posted : Wednesday, 12 October 2005 - 00:19 It took a couple of days originally. Then when the Barbarians were introduced I rewrote it from scratch because I had come up with a few improvements. That took a day or two. | | Ghengis Khan Joined 24/03/2003 Posts : 1158
| Posted : Wednesday, 12 October 2005 - 09:18 Mog I think he was refering to titonator building an army with 500 demi and 500 orpaths.
But the history of the army build is nice. What made you decide to build it?
(shh by distracting Mog it keeps him from being harmful in other threads) |
