If my archers are max distance from target, they will kill fewer troops than if they were only 3 hexes away? Is this correct?
And if so, then is it better to attack from max distance @ 100% BP, or better to move in 2 hexes and attack with 93% BP? Or will it just even itself out anyway?
I was just curious as to how the ranged penalty was calculated...if there was a set penalty for corresponding # of hexes from target.

| Posted : Friday, 4 March 2005 - 09:00 if i`ve not mistaken, for each hex away after the 3rd hex, you`ll get a 5% penalty for that so the maximum penalty archers can get is 3 hex penalty which is -15% thats if i`ve not mistaken

| Posted : Friday, 4 March 2005 - 11:58 Here's how the range penalty works:
To get actual damage done, you calculate what your troops would have done and then multiply it by the % on the following chart that corresponds to your distance from your target:
distance/damage
2/100% 3/100% 4/95% 5/90% 6/85% 7/80% 8/75% 9/70% 10/65% 11/60% 12/55%
So Disturbedyang is correct, archers would get a max (without towers) penalty of -15% which would mean it would be to your advantage to move and then attack within 3 hexes if you can get there with > 85% of your remaining BP. But you also have to consider protecting your ranged.
Marks are the exception to this chart. Because of their bonus they suffer no penalty at any distance.
