| Posted : Thursday, 28 October 2004 - 01:17 The best thing to do is know your pieces really well in a battle. Know which is scissors, rock, paper by heart. Always try to attack with the rps advantage.
Know your ZOC, zone of control. You can't move from one enemy piece's ZOC to another enemy piece's ZOC. Therefore, you don't always have to build a wall of defenders when a broken line is all that is needed.
Defend your ranged pieces.
Flanking is generally ill-advised as you can get cut up in detail while still too far to help your beleagured forces.
Try to get the hex advantage where you have more potential attacking hexes than your enemy. Multiple attacks are what turn the enemy into a blood splot. |

| Posted : Thursday, 28 October 2004 - 09:47 Flanking works great if you can pull it off, just ask what happened to Prancer on my first battle game. But of course it is best to know your troops, which work the best against so and so, how you line up your formations.
Make sure you are not spread all over the place when you make contact with the other player. If they have any idea how to play, they will systematically wipe you off the board... |

| Posted : Friday, 29 October 2004 - 06:16 Why DON"T QUIT? If I see the battle is lost and i loose the same points anyway, why not save time and quit? Or this is linked with loosing points by the winner? Can smb. answer? |

I cannot stand quitters and inactives and I do think they lose max points for quitting |

| Posted : Friday, 29 October 2004 - 14:49 @bloodmonger - as you can see, the tips you got here are nearly all in the online help manual and in Mog's great battle tutorial. The rest was a minor discussion on the merits of flanking and then a typical WOL arguement, this time about quitters and points gained or lost through quitting.
As I said earlier, approach the top battlers personally and ask them questions. Better still, try to play a battle with them. Even if you loose a few points, you'll learn fantastic lessons.

| Posted : Monday, 1 November 2004 - 16:31 somtimes its good to mix the line up a bit with having rock and paper together so you can defend agianst scissors and rock and paper. easy way to rember RPS: Rock is a defending unit eg. spearmen Paper is a infantry attacking unit eg. swordsmen Scisors is a calvery unit eg. scouts just think of the role they would play on a battlefeild

| Posted : Monday, 1 November 2004 - 16:37 infact don't listen to my mixed line up thing thats not as good as having a decant line up of paper vs rock infact I think I'm causing more confusion than anything else so I'll shut up now
But above all else do not be afraid to try something new.
