| Posted : Wednesday, 3 March 2004 - 07:52 That's right, I've added a QUEUE system for Campaign games.
Its rather simple... Just look up a game on the Campaign games list, then join the queue for that game. Once the game has enough "active" players queued, the game will begin.
The queue only counts players "active" in the past 48hrs. Players who are away for more than 48hrs will not be counted in the queue counts.
Also, the game is not created until the final player joins the queue. This means you have not joined the game until it has started, allowing you to join multiple queues.

| Posted : Wednesday, 3 March 2004 - 07:58 Good going Req,the system recently hasn't been the most conducive for those with less patience, and going back to half or three-quarter filled games would have just created the old imbalance over inactive's castles.
Hope this one's flawless,it looks it. |

Beautiful, Req. At least one person who didn't miss this subtle, yet oh so wonderful afterthought.
If I'm reading right... I can put myself on 6-7 queues (over the three game limit) for games I'd be interested in playing, then get into the first three that start. Meaning we no longer have to be so choosy about trying to guess at which of the games will fill up first, and yet again quicker start times above and beyond the smaller player requirements.
One question... supposed I do the above situation, what happens when I reach my game limit to my place on the queues I'm still waiting on? For example, I place myself on 5 queues, and 3 of the games start. Am I then removed from the other two game queues, allowing others to fill my place?
If so... I see absolutely no issues with this change at all. As I mentioned in another unrelated thread, I stopped playing for quite awhile back in the 2D map days in part because games took too long to get started and I lost some interest. This just about solves every problem I had... and I know I can't be the only one.
Beautiful change, Req.

| Posted : Wednesday, 3 March 2004 - 08:41 Thanks... Its only a stepping stone tho. I hope to improve on it immensely for the new version.
Tomorrow though, I hope to include a "my queues" list in your "My Games" page. So you can un-queue from there, or from the actual game page.

| Posted : Thursday, 4 March 2004 - 02:28 Maybe you are working to this point,... but, it seems to me the queues shouldn't be set up on individual games, rather a player should say, I want to play a 12 hour game, 10 castle map, lvl 41-80 range - and they join the queue that matches those specs. Then when there are 5 people the system finds one of the games that matches those specs, puts those players in it, and starts it. Under this kind of queue I see no reason to do the 2 castle thing either to get things started....
And on another note - is there a way to remove yourself from a queue? |

Does this mean that if I go away for the weekend (ie inactive for more than 48hrs) I will be removed from any queues I'm in????

| Posted : Thursday, 4 March 2004 - 19:22 there was a bug which is now resolved. games should start.
if you are away for 48+ hours, your queue entry is not counted. you still exist in the queue, but it doesnt count you.
queues only act on "active" players. so when you return, your queue entries will become active again.

| Posted : Thursday, 4 March 2004 - 20:25 you can now remove yourself from the queue from the same page you joined the queue.
also, players who are already in their MaxGames will not be counted in the "active" queue.

| Posted : Thursday, 11 March 2004 - 21:25 I was wondering, when a 10 player game starts with only 5 under the new system, does the ranking go only into the top 5 spots, or is it spread out into 5 parts rather than 10 like usual? If it is spread out over 5, that is not very good. Players who need only a little more to move up to the next level, run a risk of bringing their rank down. There is a better chance of a decent ranking in a 10 player game than a 5 player game.

| Posted : Thursday, 18 March 2004 - 20:48 Can we have a queued list on the game search screen? Right now we have to go to each game and see how many people are queued. Mabey put it next to the player column? Thanks |
