it would be nice to create a campaign, say with max tech level of 1, which would allow comms, scouts, swords, spears and say archers. it would create a good interesting campaign, lvl 2 could have arbs squires etc.

I would play a game with just the basic units.

yes, i think it would be interesting, but i think income, att/def and building HP techs would have to be limited to troop levels 2.
