Had a virus or malware pop up on me here last night trying to re-direct, me-anybody else affected or see this before? This is a first here for me, being WOL is my favorite site I hope it was the last or just a fluke?

Before I got McAfee, some viruses were getting through the protection I had a while ago.

I didn't read this, but there's been mention of this other day:

" www.technolog.msnbc.msn.com/technology/technolog/what-know-july-9-internet-doomsday-arrives-869336 "

Think it might be relevant?
Hope not.

Thanks for your replies n info!
I closed it so fast but I believed it said WINDOWS 7 has detected a VIRUS on this page and "Click" here to rectify the issue-I closed it-killed my connection and then it Popped up-YOU SURE YOU WANT TO NAVIGATE FROM THIS PAGE? Ran My AV an AM and found nothing? Im sure the "Redirect" would have been deadly tho.....

Yes Rex-that was 600,000 comp. infected world wide, many will lose their connection if they havent checked that site you listed!
You can check it yourself by {RUN com/ipconfig /all} and compare your DSN numbers to theirs.

After 1:00 am this morning I wasn't able to connect ...
trouble-shooting was showing DNS something or other and clicking repair wasn't helping;
So I tried running a quick scan with my McAfee, but the last 2% was taking longer than the first 98%;
So I decided before I try anything else I was going to run my defrag tool (it's amazing (let me tell you)).

My thinking was that I had recently installed CivIV and reported errors on some games that were crashing ...
sure enough my auto-update had me install 7 updates and I've got a feeling that the game may have switched me (not sure) from IE 8 to IE 7 because during the quick scan I was seeing IE 7 mentioned a lot ... the updates stopped the crashing of the games btw.

The defrag analysis rarely says that I need to defrag after the first time I used it, but again I saw a few red lines So I ran the defrag anyway and sure enough, here I am ... connection back to normal.
