So basically they do a little less damage than an archer, but if you have nothing else to shoot then why not. |

| Posted : Friday, 15 October 2010 - 18:15 Ballistas weren't as big as a castle! Maybe if catapults only hit small targets 10% of the time it would be fair. That aside, I think using a siege weapon against what was otherwise a powerful anti-personnel weapon makes the game much less playable.
Having a siege weapon that has the very longest range able to knock out what was otherwise a useful ranged troop doesn't seem fair. What use are balistas if they can't be defended? They already can't be in towers. I had a situation recently where catapults in barracks just sat out of range and took out all my ballistas. If an enemy can just hold off everything but a full frontal attack it lessens the defensive stance to the point of uselessness.
In any case, it will have to wait for the return of the game designer to fix the issue. That could be... a long time. |

10% seems a bit low... if a cata did hit a bali in real life it would totally destroy it... |

| Posted : Sunday, 17 October 2010 - 00:27 No, my word is not final on anything. I can't actually change that part of the troops with my admin powers, just stats, not stuff like what can hit what. I won't change any troop stats, either, I don't think that is my business, really.
I'm just making a plea as a player, not to allow siege weapons to be used as ranged weapons.
I merely suggested 10%, it could be any percentage, but really, I don't think catapults should be able to do much damage to ballistas just for the sake of gameplay, historical accuracy be damned.
Eventually Req will have some time to spend here and I'd like to see a few long-standing bugs be addressed. |
