The swordsman (pop 10) is listed as attack 34 (+10 tech, +10 comm within 3, +10 mysterious attack bonus every unit has at the moment, as per CrimsonDawn's bug report)
The Pikeman was pop 5, with defence 13.
Now, I would have expected the swordsman to do 80-120 damage to the pikeman (4-6 x 10 pop x 200% paper v rock bonus) and the pikeman to do 25-37.5 damage (10-15 x 5 pop x 50% rock v paper penalty). But, as you can see from the battle report above, the swordsman appears to have done less damage than the minimum one would expect (80) if there is indeed a 100% bonus to damage done when paper attacks rock. Similarly, the Pikeman has done 56.4 damage, 50% more than the maximum one would expect (37.5).
What's up? Or am I mis-understanding waronline.net/forums/posts.asp?m=15302&pg=1 "Rival bonus is now Double Damage, not +50% damage."
Also, what exactly was meant by "Retaliation is now 20% chance to do Double Damage when retaliating"? - if this means that there is a 20% chance of the pikeman doing double damage then maybe I was just unlucky and caught the point of the pike.
But surely the swordsman should still have done more than 80 damage to the pikeman, especially at 34 attack vs 13 defence? |

I recently attack Lothar with archers in a duel of ours. I had 20 or 30 + to attack on my archers and he had 15 defence on his squire. I ripped his squire with nearly 40 damage with from 3 spaces away.
Your army, Archers_1, attacked Lothar : Squires_1 Archers_1(15,30) = Wounds : 0.0, Killed : 0, Exp : 0 Squires_1(15,32) = Wounds : 36.9, Killed : 0, Exp : 0.
