| Posted : Wednesday, 2 September 2009 - 07:39 You know the problem - your heavy melee units find their way through a narrow gap blocked by some "cannon fodder" - a weak 1 or 2 pop unit in their way. Your Heavy Cavalry could destroy that swordsman 9 times over, but if it attacks it after 2 hexes of movement, it's move is finished.
I favour the idea of overruns, where units that massively outpower smaller units can carry on moving and attack another unit with the force that they didn't use attacking the first unit. Not sure how to implement this with the current movement interface, though - perhaps highlight hexes a different colour if they can only be reached by executing an overrun? Over-running should cost MPs in proportion to the % of the troop's attack required to destroy the unit (assuming the damage done is the minimum possible). Perhaps make the overrun a special ability of Falchioneers and/or Hvy Cav? A unit should only be able to do one overrun per move (to keep the programming simple) |

| Posted : Thursday, 3 September 2009 - 04:52 Movement points are still there, just not obvious in the way the movement costs are given: 100% movement = 1 mp to enter 90% = 1.11 mp 80% = 1.25 mp 70% = 1.42 mp 60% = 1.67 mp 50% = 2 mp Last Edited : Thursday, 3 September 2009 - 04:54 | Nebuchadnezer DoCJoined 9/06/2005 Posts : 3017
| Posted : Thursday, 3 September 2009 - 07:53 Well, yes, your unit does have to move. However, there was a time when you had "movement points," and could move hex by hex using up your MPs as you went. Now, you move and are done. It's not the same. | | Mog DoCJoined 5/02/2004 Posts : 14357
| Posted : Thursday, 3 September 2009 - 12:22 In the old days (cough cough) when there were MP, you could sometimes kill a troop off and still have a few points left to continue moving or attacking. | | Coopels DoCJoined 29/01/2005 Posts : 1037
| Posted : Thursday, 3 September 2009 - 16:10 Which allowed for people in battles to attack with a very strong unit, kill whatever was there and still move back to allow more units to attack. Of course this was before Req changed the game to allow your own units to pass over each other which is a lot easier than making paths for your stacks to move through. | | Disturbedyang Joined 27/01/2003 Posts : 566
