| Posted : Saturday, 7 February 2009 - 07:54 I was wondering, are there any unwritten rules of etiquette about what is or isn't an acceptable way to play WarOnline?
For example - Alliances: 3 players now have now said to me something along the lines of "No I don't double" / "take part in 2-1 g**g b**gs" / "Do alliances".
Now I'm not familiar with this idea in multiplayer games. (perhaps coming from the cut-throat, alliance and back-stab world of phpDiplomacy has skewed my view).
So what is everyone's view on alliances? Non-aggression pacts seem to be quite common and acceptable. Are they often broken? People I've signed them with often specify a "3 turn warning of end of pact". (No-one playing Diplomacy would even bother asking for this).
I mean, Japan didn't warn America before Pearl Harbor, Germany certainly didn't warn Russia before Barbarossa, and they had definitely signed a NAP.
Is there a sense of honour amongst the WarOnline players that is not present in the real world? |

Most established players will not double team an opponent as it is felt this makes it too easy to take players out. However, this is not necessarily the case depending on the player in question and the respective sizes of the opposing kingdoms!
Double teaming or alliances between clan members in a camp is also frowned upon.
If the campaign is considered a "free-for-all" then these norms are ignored. Also, 2v2 or more situations may arise by mutual consent within camps.
You also get multiplayer team camps between clans. |
