Every where you go I would suggest the strategy of Building barracks and Get into a skirmish build those towers ive gotten demolished by towers and just being surrounded by barracks.

Been doing that for a while, even before it was more reasonable , and yes, it does work well; particularly now when they'll train units even if not completed.

should have attacked you earlier i had you outranged i think but then again you had way i mean way more melee units, and those darn towers and cats killed me i think well at least all my morale

Agreeing with Mech for sure on this one..

Forward barracks become VERY important especially in the updated version of the game. That way you can get troops into a battle (usually low tech) but at least you have forces able to get to the battle before your larger units Heavy Cav etc. can get there...
