You just need gold to buy troops.

today, the missing old resources are displayed in red...so I think you cannot buy troops, even if you don't you use anything else but gold.

Req worked a lot in the last few days so I think we will have a stable system pretty soon

Ya, Req is still finishing the changeover to no resources. So you can build without resources, but you can't buy troops without them.

oh..so why do we need resource buildings?and btw i'm not trying to whine and complain i just have ?'s and i want answers..lol

Resource buildings now give you "tribute," which is how you win the game. Req's keeping the building because otherwise, we have about 20-30 maps that have just become useless and need to be reworked.
