and inasmuch as it was a much more formidable unit than the archer, I suggest making it interchangeable with the marksman (i.e. make it so that they can be selected instead of marksman or vice versa).

| Posted : Monday, 13 October 2008 - 01:44 That would be a good barbarian class troop. I think it would be faster than a marksman or longbowman and so a bit weaker in attack. Maybe it would also have a bit higher defense; a man on a horse is a problem whether he's shooting you full of arrows or just cutting your head off. | | TaurusRex Joined 14/06/2002 Posts : 9462
| Posted : Monday, 13 October 2008 - 02:24 Yes, stats wouldn't be the same, but they would have advantages that the other doesn't have like: marksman range would be greater and more deadly, but mounted archers could get closer and yes be a more elusive target.

| Posted : Monday, 13 October 2008 - 10:19 As a matter of fact, maybe we can use this either/or choice with some of the other units also ... the idea being to offer a greater variety of troops, but I can't think of any off-hand tho.

| Posted : Monday, 13 October 2008 - 14:43 possible mounted archer special ability: free attack. what I mean by this is, instead of the usual format- 1. move 2. move again or attack
the mounted archer would get this:
1. move* 2. move* *may attack before or after this move without sacrificing the movement, as long as it hasn't attacked yet this turn.
would be neat, IMO
(note, I'm fairly certain this suggested special ability for mounted archers is not new - I think req. already wants to implement something similar for scouts in the long run of things. I'm just bringing it up here as a possibility for mounted archers, and as a reminder.)
