| Posted : Thursday, 26 June 2008 - 21:42 We are moving servers to a brand new shiny server.
The web and db servers both have 2x Quad-Core CPUs, and 8gb RAM, so we should see a considerable boost in performance.
I will be moving the servers shortly after tonight's tick (midnight), so there will be a short downtime while I copy data to the new system.
After that, I will update the DNS, and those who are still seeing the old IP will be redirected to the new site's IP. Keep trying to use waronline.net to connect though, as the DNS should be updated completely in a day.

| Posted : Friday, 27 June 2008 - 01:30 There are some changes that I encounterred, like that the new url is:
64.111.28.134/main.asp
(i.e. the old url got me here, but I had to reassign my password to the url above and also allow popups to it and save it to my popup list).
A restart was necessary for me also and that's when I became aware of the new url.

| Posted : Friday, 27 June 2008 - 01:31 Note that the servers are in Colorado on Rocky Mountain time, 2 hours earlier than Eastern Time. They used to be on the East coast. This means tick time is now going to be 10 PM instead of Midnight for those of you in the Eastern Time zone and so forth. |

| Posted : Friday, 27 June 2008 - 02:07 The usual waronline url should be back working very soon, it has to be updated in the dns registry.
It is back now.
Man, this is a lot faster than it was! Last Edited : Friday, 27 June 2008 - 02:08 | TaurusRex Joined 14/06/2002 Posts : 9462
| Posted : Friday, 27 June 2008 - 02:19 Yes it is back for me after I did a restart, but can I remove that temporary url from my allow popup list now?

| Posted : Friday, 27 June 2008 - 03:21 the IP address as the URL depends on your ISP's DNS.
DNS updates can take anywhere from 1 hour to a day, depending on server settings etc.
So I would say to just keep trying waronline.net. Eventually it will work for everyone. I will just be sooner for some. | | Sage DoCJoined 8/11/2002 Posts : 4070
| Posted : Friday, 27 June 2008 - 08:43 Gah! But I LIKED having the game time equal my time!
Well, this will stop me from moving on the tick, at least. | | Mog DoCJoined 5/02/2004 Posts : 14359
| Posted : Friday, 27 June 2008 - 18:36 The IRC chat is still on the old server until Monday or Tuesday so you see an error on the Who's Online page but that should clear up when it gets switched over. | | TaurusRex Joined 14/06/2002 Posts : 9462

Does the new server tick at midnight in Colorado? If yes, then it is 2:00 am in New York when it ticks ... not 10:00 pm.

| Posted : Monday, 4 August 2008 - 20:14 Requiem, so far this change of the game tick to USA Mountain time seems to be working fine for me. I've had two opponents in the same game already and our turns are being taken well apart.
PS: Hmm that server downtime seems to have caused a shift in the ready status of my units though this turn ... at approximately 2:52 am they are not showing ready for another 2 hrs and 37 minutes and I took my turn ontime last.
