Bridges would add a cool element to the game. You could blow it up and leave a enemy stranded on the other side.Or barracade yourself on your own island or landmass, until you are strong enough to cross back over and fight.Don't need any ships though.

it would take awhile though to rebuild everything if you destroyed alot of bridges though...you would then need ships to transport your troops instead of rebuilding all the bridges. Island A is 5 spaces away from Island B, and Island A destroyed all the bridges to Island B, the player on Island B would either have to wait 5 turns rebuilding the bridge,(or just have a bunch of comms) or if there were ships he could just transport them over...but that is only if there are transports in a naval version...

Or bridges could just be built in a turn and fit the gap or be a set length and cost more? or something.

A bridge could be 2x3 hex and you would build them one after the other until the gap is filled, I will try and do a screenshot of the idea !

Hey all, been a while since I showed my face around here Now, to get on topic...

Bridges and roads are a cool idea... I am not sure how you could program the different objects to allow for bridges to just be built on water and such...

But I think it would be fairly easy to make a new "road" object/building (or a trio of objects, for vertical and diagonal in each direction). Make it so you can build it following the same criteria for building other buildings. Upon completion, it becomes neutral and allows passage of any player. In addition, it masks the default move speed for whatever speed you want the player-constructed roads to allow.

I would allow both wood and wall bridges.

In accordance w/ my previous post, you could even have two or more kinds of roads. You could have dirt roads that maybe just cost Gold to pay the Coms to make the terrain more easily passable (build relatively quickly, mebbe 100% movement or something.) Then you could have cobblestone roads that cost Stone and Gold to allow for significantly faster motion (build a lil more slowly, mebbe 150% movement).
