| Posted : Sunday, 19 August 2007 - 12:46 The setup:
The game is played in a traditional, C9 setup. This means that we are using one of the following FOUR setups. You do not know which setup we are using. So you can''t count of a doctor saving you, or wait for the detective to come out with all the answers!
(1. Five Townies, two Mafia (2. Four Townies, one Detective, two Mafia (3. Four Townies, one Doctor, two Mafia (4. Three Townies, one Doctor, one Detective, two Mafia
Roles
Noble Player. You are a noble player of WoL. You abide by the long list of complicated, unwritten rules. You never attack someone who is in a war. You never cross your territory lines without warning the other person. And you never post a derogatory remark in the forums about anyone. You must root out and find the double teamers and do to them what they have done to others. You no longer care about winning the game…it will be a victory for you when you eliminate the double teamers.
Double-Teamers. You laugh at the ‘noble’ players of the game. This is war! You will use any means necessary to win. You form NAPs and Alliances only to break them a turn later with a surprise attack. You post flamatory remarks in the forums as a form of mental attack on your opponents. And lucky for you, you found someone else just like you, who is willing to sell his soul just to win. Each night, you can choose one person to double team and eliminate from the game. For you a win is nothing less that eliminating these ‘noble’ players.
Req (in disguise). You are Req! The creator of this awesome game! You have spent an enormous amount of time putting the code for this game together. Sure, there are bugs, but overall you are happy with your game…until now! While you can’t find out who the double teamers are, you do have the ability to give each player a temporary invincibility…it is your code after all. So, each night, you are able to grant one player (even yourself) this invincibility option, so that they may fend off any double team attacks. You win with the Noble players.
Mog (in disguise). You are Mog! The most loved and hated player all at the same time. You Mogerate the forums with justice and equality. You have been Mogerator for so long, that you have learned to read into each players posts and decipher if they are a good player or not. Each night, you can focus on one player, and review his/her posts to determine their true intentions. You win with the Noble players.

| Posted : Sunday, 19 August 2007 - 12:49 Waronline, the greatest online strategy game to ever exist! This was to be the greatest tournament in WoL history. 10 players got together and decided to play a campaign to decide once and for all, who the best player in all of WoL-land would be. The biggest names in WoL were there…Sage, Coopels, The Minner, Fufumakyla, mwmoss, Jmacattack, gueritol, Biscuit, Ice and LOD. Yes! The best and most feared players in all of WoL.
The rules were set forth. It was to be a gentleman’s game…no double-teaming, no dirty dealing and no crying. The game had started and was moving along fine. Plenty of trash-talk, plenty of NAPs, and the usual pile-stealing for the first few turns.
Then it happened…first LOD, then Biscuit, then Ice were each eliminated in turn. Gone from the game. Due to a bug in the game news, the other players were unable to tell who had eliminated them. All they had was a final message from each of them stating that they had been double-teamed. It seems LOD fell to a scout rush from 2 players. Biscuit’s castle fell with ease after he had torn down all his walls and towers in an effort to get ballista by turn 2. He fell to the same scout rush as LOD. Ice’s castle also fell, quickly…his gobs of archers were no match for the mob of scouts that pounced on his castle.
What’s worse, due to another bug, the eliminated players were also eliminated from the database of WoL. There was no way to question any of the eliminated players to find out who had done this.
There was only one way to find out. Take it to the forums! The seven remaining players, who all deny being the double-teamers, have agreed to talk it out in the forums to determine who the offenders are. All agreed that these two players must be eliminated from the game, before any more wars were started.

| Posted : Tuesday, 4 September 2007 - 23:52 The posts were hesitant. Timid. All were afraid to make themselves look like a bad guy by posting too much. Every post seemed to say, ''Hey, I''m your buddy. I wouldn''t break the rules we agreed upon.'' But they were there. The two double teamers were out there. But who: The wily, crafty and self-proclaimed ultimate mafioso, Sage? The cleverly funny gueritol? The confident yet reserved Coopels? The outspoken and brash Jmacattack? The quiet and mousy Fufumonakyla? The `newbie` The Minner? The accomplished veteran mwmoss?
And so the posting began. Each person trying to feel out the others. Poke for reactions. Take verbal jabs and rebuttals. Point a finger one way while looking another. All the while, armies were being built. Techs and upgrades purchased. Everyone knew what was at stake.
Then the verbal jabs turned into action. Sage moved his army over to Coopels territory, shooting a few Archer shots at some unwitting Spearmen. Coopels was in no position to retaliate however, and simply backed off further into his lands. Gueritol also fired some shots at Sage from behind the protection of some mountains. To his surprise, The Minner was also there, firing at Sage''s unprotected flank. gueritol pulled back, not wanting to eliminate a good guy, without being sure. The Minner followed suit.
Accustations now began to fly. Sage pulled his army off Coopels, getting ready to launch his next assault...`this will require some arbs` thought Sage, as he upgraded all 3 barracks to produce the stalwart ranged troop. More talk ensued...and then people got tired, and bored. They needed action!
gueritol swung his army to Fufu''s lands. Bringing pikemen to fight the scouts of a possible double teamer. Coopels also headed to Fufu''s area with spearmen and balista.
Meanwhile, mwmoss launched his assault on The Minner. His 1 pop scouts serving as sufficient protection for his multitudes of archers. Sage and his arbs marched flowed into The Minner''s lands from the other side. Jmacattack in turn marched forward with his all melee horde of pikes, squires and scouts. It was a delicate balance that could either save this game, or give the double teamers another victim without even trying.
Then it happened...gueritol''s pikemen showed up on The Minner''s border. The stage was set. The four invading armies flowed into The Minner''s lands. They wouldn''t be taken by this `newbies` play. He would be made to understand the ethics of this game and fight fair. As they closed in, they realized how much of a newbie The Minner actually was. He had no marketplace. Piles of resources were scattered all over his land yet. This was the not the development of someone trying to logically tech up and win the game. You needed resources...unless, you only need to buy scouts.
As the castle came into sight, so did the many stacks of scouts. `Newbie` he was not. But how had he gotten so many scouts? They covered every hex in his castle! They were packed in tighter than sardines. Scouts! Sage opened fire with his arbs, backed by 10 pop comms. mwmoss fired volleys with his archers. Jmac''s melee force stormed the open entrances to the castle and started attacking the palisade wall. Gueritol''s pikemen army proved to be the final straw. Walls fell quickly. The slaughter was on. The scouts never had a chance to even get an attack in. Bolts rained down, arrows covered the sky, pikes jabbed at the scouts, squires smashed building.
When it was all done, not one structure remained. The castle slab was a mess of blood spots and rubble. The four attackers, satisfied for the moment, returned to their castles. Without a spoken word, nobody claimed the castle or mines of the surrounding area. What they did was necessary, but no one would take the spoils. Let them stand there as a reminder to the remaining villain.

| Posted : Thursday, 6 September 2007 - 22:13 As each assailant of The Minner headed back to their castles, they each in turn realized an awful mistake...they had left their castles wide open to take over from the other double teamer! Each player raced back to their castle. Each passing turn bringing on a feeling of dread that they would be blindsided and eliminated from WoL forever. All their hard work for nothing...
mwmoss was the first to reach his castle. He sighed in relief...his lands remained uninvaded.
gueritol was the second to reach his castle. He quickly set up some Outposts and was relieved to find his mines and lands unmolested.
Jmacattack reached his lands 3rd. His troops exploring his boundaries for any signs of a sneak attack...there was none.
Finally, Sage, who had traveled the farthest, came to his lands. His arbs were slow to move, and he cautiously approached his lands in formation. His walls were within site...what was that? Over there! Oh, just one of his barracks. But wait! What was over there? Oh, just his goldmine. Sage advanced into his castle, heart pounding he put his arbs into defense mode...surely he would be attacked...but, to his surprise, his lands remained uninvaded.
Coopels and Fufu also escaped any attack from the remaining double teamer.
Everyone was safe...for now. The only question left was...who was the final double teamer? | | Nebuchadnezer DoCJoined 9/06/2005 Posts : 3017
| Posted : Saturday, 8 September 2007 - 18:24 Everyone was rejoicing! The doctor had made a save, it appeared! This was turning out to be quite easy...as it always was once double-teamers were exposed. The nobles were confident...there was no way they could lose...right? They only had to flush out the one double-teamer...should be a piece of cake...
After rejoicing, there was friendly discussion had by all. How do we find the final double teamer? Some thought the apparent doctor should come out. Some thought he should remain hidden...
"I''m the doctor!" Claimed Coopels. "I saved gueritol."
"Wow, thanks Coop! I''m the detective!" Replied gueritol.
What luck! Two important roles revealed! This would make it even easier to find the last bad guy...because nobody would lie in this game...
mwmoss posted his thoughts that fufu was the guy they wanted...and moved his armies towards Fufu''s lands. Balista, and macemen lined Fufu''s borders.
More discussion was had...then a concensus was formed. First Sage, then Coopels, Fufu and gueritol all massed on Jmac''s border. Jmac had confused the thinking process and just wasn''t making any sense. Balista, macemen, and falchioneers swarmed in on Jmac''s castle. Again, the 4 on 1 was a quick battle. Jmac''s defense of his castle was as confused as his posting. The result was the same as it had been for The Minner...nothing left standing.
As the four aggressors retreated, each of them thought to himself...where were all the scouts? In fact, Jmac hadn''t had one single scout anywhere. Then the realization hit them...they had been wrong. Confused as he may have been, Jmac was a noble.
Again each player raced home, hoping they would still have a castle... | | Nebuchadnezer DoCJoined 9/06/2005 Posts : 3017
| Posted : Sunday, 9 September 2007 - 23:14 gueritol was smiling as he moved his troops back to his castle. Sure, they had just killed another noble, but he was still confident that they would eliminate the final double teamer and restore peace to the game again. His army was quite sizable...falch and balista, with a few macemen in the mix. He was proud of what he had put together. He quickly raced his falch and mace back to his castle, just in case he needed to defend against the big bad scout rush...''Oooh! Scouts!'' He mocked to himself. ''I`d like to see those scouts against my army.'' He chuckled again.
The turn his melee were about to enter his castle, he logged on later than normal...not really concerned about any double attacks, as nobody had been in site last turn. When he logged on, his jaw dropped to his keyboard. Scouts! Everywhere he looked scouts! His balista had been completely annhialated by them. He was relieved to see that his castle was still his...but what he owned in that castle was in tatters. Palisades were missing in his walls, his blacksmith was gone, his military academy - gone. His marketplace, placed outside his castle walls was also a pile of rubble. His barracks were all critically injured, and completely surrounded by scouts. So many that they were two and three deep in places.
It seemed hopeless. Yet, he marched his remaining troops into the fray. Macemen did considerable damage against those scouts. His falch were able get some good hits, and his newly deployed balista and mace did some more damage. Satisfied that he may yet overcome these odds, he ended his turn.
He stayed on to plan his moves the next day. He would have to move quickly to beat this double teamer, and get a double hit on him...that would show him. ''I`ll move this falch here and seal up that hole...this mace can clear out this scout and clear up this area...` He refreshed. Wait...where did his falch and mace go?
Nooo! His enemy had waited for him to move his troops into range of...his balista. What a low-down dirty trick! Behind all those scouts were stacks of balista...and they all had a nice open shot on gueritol''s falchioneers and mace. He kept refreshing and watched as his remaining troops fell.
By his next turn, his castle was leveled and taken over...
gueritol, also known as Mog, was eliminated from the game and WoL. | | Nebuchadnezer DoCJoined 9/06/2005 Posts : 3017
| Posted : Thursday, 13 September 2007 - 23:21 How could this happen?! Req was here...it was obvious he should have saved gueritol! Why would he possibly have saved anyone else?
The remaining players couldn''t believe that Coopels wouldn''t save gueritol.
mwmoss was infuriated. This was so stupid! The only reason that guertil was eliminated was that Coopels wasn''t Req. He must be mafia, or gueritol would still be alive. Moss moved every last troop of his to Coopels boarder. HC, knights and mace backed by marks and rows upon rows of balista. There he sat. Waiting for everyone else to see his side of the story.
Coopels defended himself with some lame excuse that he wanted to spice up the game and make it more exciting. After all, it wasn''t nerve-wracking enough that his account could be deleted forever. Written out of the WoL history books as if he never existed.
Sage accepted Coopels explanation without even batting an eye. Of course Coopels was innocent. No mafia would try to pull that stunt...nobody has the cahones to do that. Not even Coopels. Sage moved his troops to Fufu''s border. He went with his favorite of macemen, backed by hordes of markemen, backed by rows of comms for towers and attack points.
Fufu made few waves. He was confused. He was unsure what to do. He didn''t even bother to voice an opinion on the whole subject. He was going to wall up and wait for something else to happen.
Meanwhile, Coopels moved to Fufu''s land. Hordes of balista fronted by hundreds of arbs...yes, hundreds of arbs. Coopels was innovative and creative...maybe more so than anyone would give him credit.
Without warning or even a mention of it, mwmoss put his army in motion. They moved directly at Coopels empty castle...and on to Fufu''s castle.
The decision had been made. It was Fufu...it had to be. All three players closed in on Fufu. Waiting to get their revenge. They kept tight formations. It was like watching a symphony of troops as they marched in. Ready to attack, and clean out the double-teamer. All was ready. HC charged walls, mace marched forward, knights confidently sauntered in, balista and marks took their places in towers. All taking aim on...nothing!?
Fufu''s castle was empty!
Then it hit them...from all sides. Fufu was not as lost and clueless as he had let on. Wave after wave came from beyond sight range. Scouts after scout hit the defenseless comms and balista. Marks were cut down. Coopels, mwmoss, and Sage were dubmfounded. They were right that a double teamer would never gamble with the Req identity...but this was a move so brilliant, they never saw it coming.
They regrouped their troops, which were now caught in a circle of scouts. Fufu pressed in...making his mistake. Scouts were no match for HC, mace and knights. It was Fufu''s turn to drop his jaw. In a few short turns his massive army was cut down to nothing. The entire map was filled with bloodies hexes. Coopels, Sage and moss slaughtered each and every scout...splitting up and taking out the remaining pockets of resistance.
It was over. Fufu was the final double-teamer. The final three agreed to vote to end the game. The nobles are victorious.
