I tend to get Taxes, then Military, then Commerce, then build a marketplace, then get Tax Reform. Archery, Advanced Training, Castle Protection... of course, you have to have all the buildings, the military academy, blacksmith, training guild and a third barracks too.

Basic troops will do until you have a growing economy. Then tech up a barracks to get to ballistas quickly, very handy items.

Here''s my real strategy, avoid Biscuit at all costs! He isn''t a nice man, he will hurt you real bad, so if you see him, go attack anybody else within reach!

Yeah... If all your neighbour is engaged in a war. Pick one and attack even if it means they both joining forces to attack you .... Don''t care

It''s better that way in the long run

Back to the question....

TAXES should ALWAYS be the first tech purchased(IMO)...the 2nd and following are always a matter of opinion...and circumstance.

For example, Mog mentioned TAX REFORM among his first five, I have probably only purchased that tech 3 or 4 times in all my campaigns...well, at least, before turn 20 or so...

A few of my first purchased(in no certain order), include, Advanced Training, Military, Archery, Commerce, Building Materials and/or the first weapons/armor techs, if I''m seeing a brash neighbor foolishly moving into my area much too early.

My first four tech purchases (chosen from the above list) are set in stone and don''t ever change, no matter the circumstance...I''m sure you''re settle on your favorites as well. Good luck!
