A minimum of 7 people is needed to play. More are welcome, but we need at least 7.

| Posted : Thursday, 21 December 2006 - 17:32 Well, well, what do we have here? Mr. Sagey-cakes goes MIA for months at a time. Never says "hi, I'm still here, but busy." Never stops to chat. Nothing. Now suddenly, he wants to be everyone's friend, and we should do everything HE wants to do...

Just curious...is it going to be a basic mafia, or one of the others with special roles?
Or will that be determined by the number of players? Last Edited : Friday, 22 December 2006 - 17:01 | Sage DoCJoined 8/11/2002 Posts : 4070
| Posted : Friday, 22 December 2006 - 19:52 It will be determined by the number of players. With only 7 players, there's one setup that's pretty standard.
It's called C-9. In a C-9 game, the moderator picks one of FOUR different setups, but none of the players know which.
5 town, 2 mafia 4 town, 1 detective, 2 mafia 4 town, 1 doctor, 2 mafia 3 town, 1 detective, 1 doctor, 2 mafia
The setup is chosen at random, and it usually works out really well. This prevents games from becoming too dependent on the detective. If we just went with the last setup, the detective would come out day 1, be protected by the doc, and just keep investigating. In a C9 game, we may not have a doc...or a detective...or either. It also opens up more options for the mafia...do they risk claiming detective and hope nobody counterclaims?
Such small numbers, the game may seem a bit weighted towards the mafia...but I assure you, it isn't. As long as the town is careful and refrains from hasty decisions, it's balanced. That's why the C9 game is the standard for small games on most mafia websites.
If we get more players, we'll do a different setup...but I think we'll be lucky to get 7. | | darkguy00000 Joined 11/04/2006 Posts : 1009
