I would consider Egypt to be part of the middle east, myself. Although it is located in Africa it is religiously, politically and culturally far more like the middle east cultures than most African cultures. I don't know if most would consider it to be in the middle east or not. It's a moot point.
The pyramids are not triangular, they are "pyramidal" since they exist in three dimensions, not two. Most building are based on cubes, not squares, for the same reason.

| Posted : Monday, 18 December 2006 - 21:03 I can't think of any buildings in Saudi Arabia which have been standing for over 2000 years.
I know very little about the Islamic religion, but I do know that Mecca is in Saudi Arabia. I remember something about muslims making a yearly pilgrimage to Mecca -- maybe our answer is a building related to this pilgrimage?
Unfortunately, since I know very very little about this subject, I don't think I want to waste any questions for the forum. I don't even know how old Islam is -- if it is younger than the Christian religion, then I'm just wasting my breath! |

Not knowing about this subject is extreme folly in our day and age. |

| Posted : Monday, 18 December 2006 - 23:15 Well, it doesn't matter because it isn't in Egypt! However, a triangle and a pyramid are really two entirely different concepts. A pyramid has 5 triangular sides, but the shape itself is not a triangle. If it looked like a triangle from above, I'd go along with you, for instance, the Flatiron building in New York has a triangular footprint. Still, it isn't a triangle! It is an extruded triangle, whatever that is called. |

Is it the Kaaba in Mecca? |
