BBBP, one thing you have to consider is whether you are going to attack early or wait and build up techs (and possibly defenses) first. Are you in a corner with only two possible opponents or are you in the middle, ringed by 6 opponents? Do you have a neighbor you are scared of? One you think you can beat?

In other words, you have to adjust to the situation at hand. Some players have very rigid play order, always doing the same set of tasks in the same order. Other wing it completely, I think.

Using the in game messages for diplomacy can be very important too. Sometimes you can negotiate just what you need to get ahead. Other times, of course you get a laugh and a finger but you gotta try.

Maybe more detailed questions would elicit more explicit response.

i do all three.
i attck on turn one and build techs and nap's withall except on and attack the one while i build up a bigger army back home.
